Mark Calabria, Philip Hanson, Dan Mitchell, Urban Vehovar joining the faculty

Mark A. Calabria is director of financial regulation studies at the Cato Institute. Before joining Cato in 2009, he spent six years as a member of the senior professional staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. He has extensive experience evaluating the impacts of legislative and regulatory proposals on financial and real estate markets, with particular emphasis on how policy changes in Washington affect low and moderate income households. Calabria holds a Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University, USA. [more]

Philip Hanson is an associate fellow at the Chatham House's Russia and Eurasia Programme. He is also an emeritus professor of the Political Economy of Russia and Eastern Europe at the Centre for Russian and East European Studies, University of Birmingham, UK. His main areas of interest are Comparative Economic Systems, the Soviet and Russian economies, and Economics of Transition. [more]

Daniel J. Mitchell is a top expert on tax reform and supply-side tax policy. Mitchell is a strong advocate of a flat tax and international tax competition. Prior to joining the Cato Institute in 2007, Mitchell was a senior fellow with The Heritage Foundation. He is a frequent guest on radio and television and a popular speaker on the lecture circuit. Urban Vehovar is an associate professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Primorska, Slovenia. Vehovar is also an associate professor at the School of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica, Slovenia and a member of the Društvo Svetilnik, a non-governmental and non-profit organization of classical liberal thinkers in Slovenia. His topics of research are corruption, democracy and economic development. Vehovar received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the Faculty of Social Science, University of Ljubljana in 2000. [more]
